The Perfecting Work of God’s Love

Pastor Dan Johnson

CRIPTURE

But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

1 John 2:5-6 (NIV)

BSERVATION

It’s a great promise to live for: That God’s love would truly be made complete in us. The key is to obey His Word. To truly live in Christ means to serve others as Christ did sacrificially. Walking as Jesus did means that I need to submit to the Heavenly Father’s plan and will for my life.

PPLICATION

I am reminded that every day is another opportunity for God’s love to be made complete in me. To walk as Jesus walked means that I will make people a priority in my life. I need to let God show me these days how I can best serve the people He wants me to serve.

Obedience to His Word involves sacrifice to things I want to do in order to serve the best interests of others. So it involves dying to selfishness and living for Jesus by looking to Him and asking Him what He would have me to do in serving others.

RAYER

Dear Lord, help me this day to lay my life down for people You died for. Show me how I can be a servant today and stretch me to love with your love. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me the strength to die to self in order to live for others. I want my life to be filled with your love. I want to have your love be made complete in me. Help me to show your love to a dying, hurting world.
