He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

God has made it clear what He requires of His people. We are called to do what is right, to look for ways to show mercy to people who need it, and to walk in humility and teachability with God. This means that we need to be fair with our dealings with people and to always look to do the right thing even when it’s difficult. It also means to show mercy to those who have wronged you and to walk with a humility that is ready to do God’s will in all things.

I know that this call to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly is a daily challenge. To do justly is a call to do what is right and acceptable in God’s eyes. I am reminded here that I need to extend grace and mercy for individuals who have stumbled in sin and have struggled in doing the right thing. I am also challenged to walk humbly in such a way that I am truly listening to God’s voice at all times so that I can respond in obedience to what He’s asking me to do.

Lord Jesus, help me to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly before You. I confess my tendency to go my own way and not always do the right thing. Please forgive me for falling short of your perfect will for my life. Fill me with your Spirit today so that I can extend mercy to those who need your love and grace. Help me to have an open heart before You so that I can humbly discern your will for my life.
