God’s Heart is Gracious Towards You

Pastor Dan Johnson

CRIPTURE

Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

Isaiah 30:18

BSERVATION

Isaiah speaks encouraging words to a rebellious people and still offers them the way to salvation and blessing. The Lord longs to be gracious and bless anyone who will repent and come to Him and wait on Him. There are many times when we may feel like we have gone through a time when life isn’t fair and there’s been a long series of unjust events that have robbed us of life and time. But God is a God of justice, and if we’ll come to Him and wait patiently for Him, He will bless our obedience.

Waiting on God is not just waiting for Him to do something for us. Waiting on God has to do with coming to Him each morning and submitting our whole lives to Him. Waiting on Him involves surrendering to His will and spending time in His presence so that we have given Him full opportunity to speak into our hearts for each day and each challenge.

PPLICATION

I need to wait on God these days for wisdom and direction as it relates to my role as a pastor. I need to seek Him for what He would have me teach on in the next season in the life of the church. That is an awesome responsibility that seems daunting at times, but if I’ll come to Him, seek Him and wait on Him, He will show me His direction for the people I pastor. His Word is rich with meaning and relevance and I am so touched with high call to mine the depths of scripture for the power of His Word to have its way in my life and the lives of the people I’m ministering to.

I set my heart to seek His Word, for in it is the wisdom of the ages and the secret to all of life. Waiting on Him, for me, will involve disciplined study in His Word so that I can experience the Spirit of wisdom and understanding in relating His Word to today’s culture.

RAYER

Father God, thank You for your goodness and graciousness toward me in these days. I trust that You are a God of justice and that You long to be gracious to me in all things. Thank You for your grace and your mercy when I come short of your will for my life. Help me to wait on You for your wisdom and understanding in all things. You have provided me with the mind of Christ as I embrace your will and receive the power of your Holy Spirit. Lord Jesus come fill me with your Spirit this day so that I can receive the full depth of your wisdom and understanding.
