Your Response Determines Your Eternity

Pastor Dan Johnson

CRIPTURE

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”

Mark 16: 15-16

BSERVATION

This is the simple message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a serious call to recognize Jesus as the Savior of the world, to repent of one’s sin, and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Those who do not believe and who do not respond to Jesus as Lord and Savior are sealing their own fate for eternity. God does not send anyone to hell. Hell is an eternal monument to the free will of man. Every man and every woman will eventually have an opportunity to receive Christ or reject Him. That choice will determine their eternity. Nothing else in this life is more important than this decision.

Christianity is scoffed at and ridiculed by many as narrow minded and exclusive. Paul said that preaching Jesus Christ crucified on the cross is foolishness to the natural mind and a stumbling block to all those intellectuals that are so proud that they would never humble themselves to admit they need help in any way.

God chose the foolish things of this world to confound the ‘wise’ so that no man or woman would have opportunity to boast in their own wisdom or strength.

PPLICATION

I am compelled to share the Good News of Jesus to the people that God brings into my life. I have a passion for what moves the heart of God. God has a passion to see hurting, broken people come to Him through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I want to spend my life for what I believe is the most important cause in the history of the world: the cause of Jesus Christ and the sharing of the Gospel that has power to save every individual.

That is why I am a pastor. God has called me to teach His people and to equip them to share the Good News of Jesus with their friends, neighbors and relatives. Nothing is more important than introducing people to Jesus Christ and helping them to become fully devoted followers of Jesus. The greatest legacy I can leave my wife and my children is that I have inspired them to live for Jesus all of their days. It is the most fulfilling life, the most rewarding and the wisest way to live. Life is short and we need to make the most of the time we have been given on this earth to make a difference for eternity.

RAYER

Father God, thank You for sending your Son to die for me and for every person on the planet. Lord Jesus, I realize there may be some who will squander what You did for them on the cross, but I pray that those reading these words will recognize what’s at stake for eternity. Fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I will be able to boldly and sensitively proclaim the Good News of Jesus to my world. Thank You that regardless of people’s responses to my sharing, your Holy Spirit is faithful to convince the world of sin, righteousness and the coming judgment. Please use my words to bring people to that saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
