Seek God and You will Find Him

Pastor Dan Johnson

CRIPTURE

God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’

Acts 17:27-28

BSERVATION

There’s a wonderful promise the Apostle Paul is revealing here in these words. When he says that God is not far from each one of us, he is showing that we can all have relationship with Him if we’ll reach out and seek Him. In the breadth of Paul’s writings it is obvious that God is found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

As we seek the Lord Jesus, we can be confident He will be faithful to reveal himself to us and lead us in the way we should go. This is not just a promise for those who are seeking Him for the first time. This is a promise to every one of us, that as we seek the Lord each day, He is not far from any of us. Simply through coming to Him in humble obedience and teachability of spirit He will speak to us and help us with the every day challenges of life. God loves us and cares deeply for all the things that we are going through. If we’ll seek Him, He will comfort us, direct us and often will help us with understanding heaven’s perspective.

PPLICATION

I am grateful for the promise of His presence and for reminding me today of His loving heart towards me. He wants to help me every day. He wants to encourage me and guide me in making wise decisions with my life and my time. He wants to love people through me with acts of kindness and words of encouragement.

I have a renewed desire to know Him better and to hear His voice more clearly. Practicing living in His presence is a worthwhile pursuit that I am inspired to live out each day. I know that as I grow in hearing His voice, I will grow in His wisdom, His understanding and His grace and power. It is so good to be reminded that He is not far from any of us, if we’ll just open our hearts to Him.

RAYER

Lord Jesus, I set my heart to live in your presence this day. Father God, thank you for your loving grace and mercy that forgives me of my sin and makes it possible to have an open and intimate relationship with You. Thank You for reminding me today that going your way is always better than going my own way. Help me to walk in dependence on You today. Fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I am sensitive to your leading in my life. I set my heart to seek You and know You better in the days to come.
