Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. ”

Jesus warns about how the enemy of our soul would come quickly to steal away the eternal Word of God that the Lord wants to put in our hearts. This Seed of His Word has powerful potential to heal us and to grow us up into the mature and fruitful believers that God wants us to become.
Satan knows that if we are responsive to God’s Word, that we will be effective for God and thwart the lies of the enemy and the strategies of hell that seek to keep men and women from coming to know our Lord Jesus Christ. Satan will do everything he can to distract, to deceive and to keep the Word from taking root in our lives. We must be diligent and vigilant about humbling ourselves before God each day and allowing His Word to have its way in our lives.

It’s a daily battle to say no to all the distractions of this world in order to quiet my heart before God and listen to Him through His Word. I realize that I must be diligent in coming to God in prayer and in His Word so that I can be the effective pastor, leader, husband and father that God wants me to be.
It is so easy to get distracted by the things of this world. Life can become so busy and so ‘daily’ filled with noisy and distracting influences. I am reminded by this scripture that I must not allow the enemy of my soul to distract me from the Eternal Word of God. His Word is my source of life, His Word sustains me, His Word speaks to me the very words of God.

Lord Jesus, thank you for reminding me to have a heart that is receptive to your Word. The more I read and study your Word, the more I realize how valuable your wisdom is for my life. Help me to recognize quickly the distractions that Satan puts in my way, so that I am able to resist temptation and follow you fully. I set my heart to hear your voice, your Word and respond in obedience to your direction. Blessing will come as I step into your grace and stay in step with your Spirit. Fill me with your Spirit today and help me to follow you in everything.
