For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory;  No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

It is God’s heart to bless His people. This promise speaks of His desire to protect and to provide richly for those who will follow Him and walk uprightly.

There are times in life when we may feel like we are doing everything we know to do and yet God’s blessing seems to still be out of reach. This promise reassures us that God knows all things and sees all things. He will be faithful to bless whoever will walk with Him in an upright and humble way. This verse is a clear call to draw close to God and trust that He knows us better than we know ourselves and that we can trust Him with our lives as we live for Him wholeheartedly. No good thing will he withhold from those who set themselves to do what’s right.

I am reminded here of how faithful and generous is our God. He is faithful to provide and to bless in ways that we cannot imagine. There are seasons in life when I feel like there is much effort, hard work, and the sowing of seed, and yet with a harvest that seems uncertain and unpredictable. But I am inspired by this verse that God knows me, He knows what’s best for me, and I can trust that He is faithful to bless and to guide me as I follow Him and do His will.

I choose to believe that no good thing will He withhold from me as I am careful to walk with Him and please Him with my life, my actions and my attitudes.

Dear Lord, thank You for being faithful to your Word in blessing your people. I set my heart to live for You today and honor You in all I say and do. Lord Jesus, I ask that you fill me with your Spirit today and help me to follow You closely. Give me the words to say and help me to know your will today. Help me to be a blessing to the people in my life today. I trust in your goodness and your providence to me and my family. I pray for my family today that they would trust in You and follow You in all things.
